The specs of the latest batch of NVidia cards are either impressive or depressing, depending on which way you look at it. 51 Gigabytes per second of memory is a fucking huge firehose by anyone’s estimation, but like any firehose you need a damn big pump to feed it. In this case we’re talking 120 Watts of power consumption, no doubt with heat output to match. SLI? Sure they can, but make that a double order of wattage with a side of small fan madness.
Where does it end? I’d love a PC that can render King Kong in realtime, but do I want to have to rewire my house so I can run it off the 30Amp stovetop circuit breaker?
