It’s all true. Apple will shift to x86 starting next year. Ballsy move. One wonders how this will affect sales of current PowerPC based products: who in their right mind would by a G4 PowerBook today, knowing that a Pentium-M beast will be available shortly?
MacRumors had an interesting snippet:
All demonstrations during the Keynote were performed on a 3.6GHz Pentium 4, to the surprise of many in the audience.
So how the heck is Apple going to stop users installing OSX on their beige-box clone PCs? Or are they going to allow it? Surely they won’t be relying on BIOS DRM? I’m betting any hardware DRM would be hacked to hell and back before you can say “OSX on AMD” :D.
