8ms Response Times are so ’04

ViewSonic LCDWow. I used to get excited about LCD monitors with 8ms response times, and then ViewSonic drops this 4ms doozy. Apart from a fairly pathetic native resolution of 1280×1024, this thing looks pretty insane. I guess with a 4ms response time, it’s aimed more at gamers than designers, hence the low(ish) resolution.

One trap for young players (as mentioned in the Engadget comments), is that this monitor’s colour depth runs only to 6 bits per pixel, which means if you throw 32bit colour depth at it (8bpp), it will dither a wee bit. Again, not really an issue for gamers, but if you like your LCDs at 8bpp, be warned.
