One of the interesting things about blogging, is that the majority of one’s readership often comes via RSS. Using simple site statistics, those RSS readers look like one giant, bandwidth-consuming blob. Enter Feedburner.
Feedburner takes your run-of-the-mill RSS feed and, well, burninates it, I guess. Basically all requests for RSS are routed via Feedburner’s stats machines, which gives some good stats-porn breakdowns of circulation, reader software, clickthroughs, and more. I’m positive that Feedburner is some massive privacy eating machine, that will sit quietly eating RSS stats for years before finally selling themselves and all the stats to Microsoft, who will implement RSS3.0 and take over the blogosphere.
Time will tell. In the meantime I’m going to keep getting my daily fix of RSS stats. Let me know if you have any problems with the feeds.
