Almost two weeks ago, I watched an episode of SportsCafe on the local TV2 channel. They had a pretty interesting musician on called Donavon Frankenreiter. After the show, I had forgotten the guy’s name. Despite a bit of searching, I couldn’t find it, so I sent this email off to TVNZ:

Subject: Band on sportscafe tonight?
Can you tell me the name of the band that played on SportsCafe tonight
Many, many thanks!
A couple of days later, I managed to track the name down, and even went and purchased his debut album. I can highly recommend it if you don’t mind a bit of acoustic folk/rock in the same vein as Jack Johnson.
So anyway, I’d totally forgotten about my request to TVNZ, writing it off as yet another bitbucket customer-query email being delivered straight to /dev/null. But lo! What light in yonder window breaks? Someone actually checked the email, and close on two weeks later I get this great response (quoted in full):
Kinda cool. I have this image of a poor, harried email checker searching high and low for the obscure name of this dude that played some music for 5 minutes on one show. Or perhaps more likely the email got queued on some generic customer query list and aforementioned harried customer service rep has finally got to it….
