If I were located closer to the USA, I would have moved heaven and earth to attend PAX, the expo brainchild of the Penny Arcade guys. PAX was a geek expo to end all expos, and included rooms for PC, console and tabletop gaming – all genres close to my own heart. It was Tycho’s description of one of the musical events that really got me going though:
At any other show, lighters might have emerged during the more tender portions of the (flawless) Minibosses performance. It is difficult to describe it in a way that doesn’t sound ridiculous, but when I saw the hall lit blue by innumerable LCD panels – GBA SPs, cell phones, and PDAs of various kinds – I very nearly couldn’t breathe.
It’s a beautiful thing, this geek renaissance we live in.
